New Commission, Decadence, Drama, and the Perfect Pour: Unveiling "The Last Vintage"

I am absolutely thrilled to finally share the finished results of my latest major project. This wasn't just any painting; it was a bespoke commission created specifically for an incredible new wine bar that wanted a true statement piece for their main lounge area.

The brief was challenging and exciting: create something that embodies the spirit of wine, nightlife, and a touch of provocative luxury. They didn't want a traditional still life of a vineyard. They wanted a mood.

The Concept & Story

Working closely with the clients, we settled on a concept that leans heavily into a cinematic, almost "noir" aesthetic. We called the final piece "The Last Vintage."

This painting is meant to evoke the specific atmosphere of a late night that has gone on perhaps just a little too long—the kind of night people talk about for years.

It depicts a chaotic, frozen close-up. We captured the exact second where celebration turns into a beautiful mess, as a dark bottle empties its contents not into a glass, but cascading over a pristine red stiletto. It is a snapshot of pure decadence—suggesting a story of intoxication, broken inhibitions, and the sultry, messy aftermath of a passionate evening.

The Technique

To match the intensity of the subject matter, I used a very heavy impasto technique.

If you see this piece in person, you'll want to touch it (but please don’t, the bar owners will thank you!). The textures are deep and visceral. I wanted the rich reds and burgundies of the wine to look wet and fluid, contrasting against the sharp, glossy shine of the patent leather heel. The palette knife work in the background was kept loose and dark to ensure all the focus remains on that central, dramatic spill.

The Perfect Setting

It was an honor to create something custom-fitted to a specific space. A wine bar is a place of sensory experiences—taste, smell, atmosphere—and "The Last Vintage" is designed to mirror that. It’s a conversation starter, a piece that sets the tone for an evening of indulgence.

It is now on its way to its forever home, where it will hang above the best seats in the house.

Thank you to my wonderful clients for trusting my vision with this bespoke commission. Cheers to art, wine, and unforgettable nights!
